FAQ
What is “What Lies Beneath?
What Lies Beneath is a long-term photographic project that explores what remains unseen at first glance. It focuses on places, moments, and details where time, silence, and presence reveal deeper layers of meaning. Rather than documenting events, the project invites slow observation and personal interpretation.
Is this a photography portfolio or a visual journal?
It is both. What Lies Beneath works as a curated photography portfolio, but also as a visual journal shaped by experience, travel, and observation. Each image stands on its own, yet contributes to a broader narrative built over time.
What kind of photography do you focus on?
The project focuses on nature, urban environments, travel photography, and human presence within space. There is a strong interest in the relationship between people, nature, and the traces left behind by time, rather than in traditional genres or labels.
Is this project inspired by travel or observation?
Both. Travel provides the physical context, but observation is the true engine of the project. Many images are born from waiting, watching, and returning to the same places until something subtle reveals itself.
Are the photographs staged or candid?
The photographs are not staged. They are the result of real moments, natural light, and unaltered situations, approached with patience and attention rather than intervention. The goal is to preserve authenticity rather than control the scene.
Why is silence an important part of this project?
Silence allows space. It gives the viewer time to slow down, to notice details, and to connect emotionally without distraction. In What Lies Beneath, silence is not absence—it is where meaning emerges.
